Following the highly successful 2009 South Suffolk Show, the trustees of the South Suffolk Agricultural Association elected to make a donation of £1,100 from the proceeds of the show to the East Anglian Air Ambulance which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
They were joined by the West Suffolk Motor Club and the Eastern Counties Motor Club who also presented a cheque to the sum of £1,100 raised from their classic car rally held on last years show day, which finished at the showground culminating with a display of the participating cars.
Jim Mann, chairman of the South Suffolk Agricultural Association said “The East Anglian Air Ambulance was chosen because it is a charity that we feel our members as well as many visitors to the show would hold in high regard, with many enjoying rural activities where the East Anglian Air Ambulance can often make the vital difference in providing life-saving treatment in locations not easily accessible to the traditional road ambulances. We are very pleased that our donation will go some way towards the £9,000 that they need to raise every day in order to maintain their service, and we very much hope to have another successful show this year so that we can continue to support local charities.”
This years South Suffolk Show will be held on the 13th May at Ampton racecourse near Ingham, just off the A134, and The West Suffolk and Eastern Counties Motor Clubs again organising their classic car rally; ‘The South Suffolk Classic Run’.
